Queenslanders invited to share their thoughts on new state building plan

Posted On November 30, 2016

A discussion paper has been released that will allow Queenslanders to have their say on the future of Queensland’s building and construction industry.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni revealed that the Queensland Building Plan consultation was an important measure to provide feedback for projects going forward.

Mr de Brenni spoke in detail of the aim of the plan, and why they want people to have their say.

“We have a strong, modern and vibrant building industry and this government is committed to making sure the sector continues to grow and develop.

“The Queensland Building Plan looks at a number of reforms designed to bring increased confidence to the sector, including our government’s historic reforms on security of payment for subcontractors.”

Industry has been keen on a single housing or development code for a long time and it’s time to have an open and public discussion about the merits of such a code,” Mr de Brenni said.

“Many home owners across the state have expressed concerns about the operation of the QBCC Home Warranty Scheme and we want to hear from as many Queenslanders as possible to make sure that it is in line with community expectations.

“The Queensland Building Plan discussion paper brings all of these areas of reform together so that people can have their say.”
