Education Minister Kate Jones has revealed that construction has begun on Wilsonton State High School's new multipurpose hall.
The $5 million hall is being built as part of the 'Advancing Queensland Schools' program which began in March 2017.
Ms Jones revealed that the new hall had been requested for some time now, and spoke of the many benefits it will bring for the local community.
“The Wilsonton High school community have been calling for this new hall for many years and I’m so pleased that construction will now get underway on this important community asset,” she said.
“The hall will be more than 2000 square metres and includes a multipurpose court, a stage, amenities, a kitchen, change rooms, equipment storage, audio-visual storage, a Kinesiology room and staff room.
“The Wilsonton State High School community will be able to assemble and hold sporting and other events in their own hall rather than having to use the Toowoomba State High School hall.
“The Ministerial (Land) Designation process, which involved the Toowoomba City Council, government agencies and representatives, adjoining land owners and the wider community, was finalised in May.
“This enables us to now move forward with this important development for Toowoomba.”
