Yandina to receive first ambulance station

Posted On November 25, 2016

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni today visited the site of Yandina's first ambulance station, to inspect how the construction works were progressing.

Mister de Brenni was able to deliver good news, with the construction project set to be finished early in 2017.

The minister spoke of the works and the State Government's commitment to health infrastructure.

“This is yet another example of where the Palaszczuk Government is investing in frontline services while also supporting jobs for local tradies,” he said.

“Construction has been providing work for around fifty tradies and apprentices, supporting our pipeline of government-led construction on the Sunshine Coast.

Mr de Brenni revealed that the company Hutchinson Builders, which has one of its main offices on the Coast, has been using local carpenters, blocklayers, electricians and plumbers during construction.

“The building will have four vehicle bays, staff areas and a plant room, and there will be on-site parking for staff and visitors,” he said.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Cameron Dick was full of praise for the project, and reaffirmed the governments commitment to paramedics.

“This Government is committed to making sure our hard working paramedics are appropriately resourced and have the equipment and facilities they need to service local communities,” Mr Dick said.

“The new Yandina Ambulance Station will be a great addition to the local community and is one of a number of projects being delivered as part of a $15.9M capital works program across Queensland this year.

“We are putting our paramedics first – we’ve increased the Queensland Ambulance Service budget by more than $80M and increased ambulance officer numbers by 115, with a further 110 to be delivered this year.”

Construction on the new ambulance station is expected to be completed in late February.
